What it's about
The boys who come of age during the year are tasked with felling a large fir tree from the forest, removing branches, stripping it of bark, and decorating it with wooden figures and colorful ribbons. They then carry it in procession through the village, stopping at various locations for an impromptu celebration with dancing and singing. The tree is then hoisted with a system of ropes and pulleys to the center of town, and the boys have the important task of keeping it balanced using ropes that they must skillfully control with strength, precision, and sensitivity. During this activity, visitors can enjoy food at the stands and socialize while listening to music.
